Just found out you’re pregnant? Fear not, we’re here to help.

Whether you have been trying for a baby or not, finding out that you are pregnant is a real shock and can be a very scary time, so allow us to ease the panic by giving you some useful information.

  • Don’t forget that pregnancy is different for every single person, so just because your friend has morning sickness doesn’t mean you are going to have it.
  • You may choose not to tell anyone that you are pregnant during the first trimester (except your partner), this is perfectly natural. Many people only begin telling others in the second trimester.
  • You can work out your due date using a calendar which works it out using the first day of your last period.
The first 4 weeks of your pregnancy is when the embryo is beginning to develop – still only about 1cm long at this stage!
  • Your baby’s sex is decided at the time of conception, including hair colour, eye colour, size and all other characteristics.
  • It’s natural to feel scared in the initial stages wondering if you are doing the right thing and wondering if you are ready for such a big step. This is all natural, and most parents go through it – it just takes a bit of adjustment. Why not join a forum to discuss your anxieties with other parents to be?
