Baskets, Cribs and Cots
Minimize

Babies and children spend a lot of time asleep (although this may not feel like the case!), so it’s important to make sure that you have the right bed and bedroom furniture to accommodate your new arrival. From the Winnie the Pooh bedding through to the baby cots and children’s wardrobes, we can offer you a few tips on setting up a suitable bedroom for the modern baby.

Types of Baby Bed

  • Moses baskets – these are best for new-born babies, and are perfect if you want to keep your baby near to you. They are light and strong, so you can carry them easily but you may need to invest in a stand or a rocking stand for when you’re not on the move.

  • Cribs – the swinging sensation can really aid in preventing sleepless nights, but if your baby is very active a crib is not always suitable. They are usually made from wood, so can come in a range of colours.

  • Cots – you can use cots from birth, but most people use cribs or moses baskets initially. Cots are larger, and have adjustable mattress heights so you can change the position in accordance with your baby – high for newborns, and low for babies that can stand. Cots come with either fixed rail (so no accidental movement) or drop side railings (which you can move easily with one hand), made in a non-toxic material in case the baby chews on them.

  • Cot beds – bigger than cots, and can be changed into beds, which means that they can turn out to be more economical than a simple cot.

  • Travel cots – if you are going away, then a travel cot can prove a good investment and a lot of these now can be used as play pens.  Also useful if you have friends with babies visiting.
